Abstract

The Botany, which studies the plant characteristics, lacks constructivist methodologies that utilize the resources of the Amazon rainforest as an alternative to improve the teaching-learning process, in detriment to a formal education that often conditions the student a low level of learning about vegetables, due to theoretical classes that prioritize a mnemonic process. This work aimed evaluating a didactic proposal focusing on non-formal spaces as a methodology to the Botanical teaching in view of their possible contribution to the development of meaningful learning of botanical concepts. It presents a qualitative approach and comprises field research. The subjects were a group of students from the 7th grade of elementary school at a public school in the city of Parintins-Am. For the data collection, the semi-structured interview was used to identify the previous conceptions of Botany of the students. The didactic sequence aimed at the learning about the plant group Angiosperms, and occurred through a class in non-formal space, a didactic game and the construction of a conceptual map. From the obtained data analysis, it was possible to verify that the implemented proposal contributed to the learning of botanical concepts with evidence of significant learning.
